The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an organization of parents, teachers and staff members dedicated to the service of children and the support of the school. They take into account the welfare of the children, help them to develop their potential, and ensure that the school recognizes its purpose.

PTAs can perform various functions, ranging from fundraising for extra-curricular activities, curriculum-based programs and socials to events planning and volunteering with sports teams and clubs.

Time is a precious commodity, and there is never enough. As such, joining a PTA seem a bit daunting. Nevertheless, simply showing up for an event is highly encouraged and appreciated because it is a demonstration of solidarity and support for the children and their school.

But why else should you participate in PTAs at the American School of Creative Science – Nad Al Sheba? 

• To get connected:  As parents, there is no better way to stay updated on what is happening in your children’s lives or as they say “keep your finger on the pulse.” PTAs create a working partnership among parents, teachers, students and school administration in order to develop a close-knit community for parents to share the struggles and triumphs of their children’s schooling.
• To witness improvement: Being a member of the PTA will give you the chance to put your expertise and capabilities towards a noble cause – the betterment and well-being of your children and their educational community. You will be part of the solution by advocating for positive change.
• To be a role model: Participating in PTAs can demonstrate and emphasize to your child the importance you place on their education. Eventually, it will enhance school spirit within the student body by making it a family affair. Studies have linked some elements of parental involvement to their children’s academic achievement and success in school. 
• To tap into the network: It is also an organized and well-structured opportunity to meet other parents and teachers. It gives parents a chance to develop rapport, discuss parenting concerns, exchange ideas, share experiences and work together to develop mutual trust and confidence. 
• To help with peer-tutoring: It can also help in arranging volunteers to assist students who need an extra time and effort in improving reading skills or math drilling.

All parents want the best for their children regarding their studies and all future endeavors.
