The Admission Process: How to apply to the best American curriculum schools in Dubai

The American School of Creative Science at Al Barsha is an American curriculum school in Dubai known for its prime focus: providing its students with the most innovative and modern education available while honoring our culture and heritage. Our academic excellence is rooted in our strong value system and emphasis on science and technology as well as our morals. Equally important to us is the need to nurture creativity and critical thinking skills – both of which are essential to creating well-rounded global citizens, ready to build a better world for all.

Because of the limited availability of places in each class, The American schools in Dubai works on a “first come, first served” basis. Admission is also dependent on the age of the child. The American curriculum begins admitting students at age 4 for KG 1, as opposed to the British curriculum, which starts with 3-year-olds admitted to FS 1.

To be considered for admission, you will first have to fill out and submit the registration form, along with other documents. Once this is received by our office, you will be notified about the dates for the interview and entrance test. If your application is successful, you will then be called in to the office to complete the rest of the admission formalities.

When you first submit the registration form, you will be asked for the following documents:

  • 2 passport-sized photographs of your child
  • 2 copies of the child’s birth certificate
  • 1 copy of the vaccination certificate
  • 2 copies of the child’s passport, along with 1 copy of the father’s and 1 copy of the mother’s passports with their current valid resident visas
  • Copy of Family Register (For UAE nationals only)
  • An original Transfer Certificate issued by the previous school (if applicable)
  • A behavior report and character reference from the previous school (if applicable)
  • An original school report for one full academic year, or the most recent report with a report for one full academic year (if applicable and the grade, date, academic year and results should be visible)
  • A non-refundable application fee

Transfer students from the UAE should have their transfer certificate stamped by the school and the Educational Zone of the Emirate from which the certificate was issued. For GCC nationals, the stamp of the school and the KHDA is required while expatriates from other countries must have the stamp of the school, the KHDA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the UAE Embassy of that country. Countries other than the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all Western European countries must have the stamp of the KHDA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the UAE Embassy. The listed countries need to have only the stamp of the school.
