Partner with your child’s teacher and school to create an environment for success.

We’ve worked with leaders in the field of education to create one of the best American curriculum schools in Dubai, but several studies show that parental involvement creates an enormous advantage for students at any age. Joining parents’ groups, volunteering in the classroom, or helping out at a school fete significantly improves your child’s social skills whilst reducing absenteeism and in-class disruptive behavior. Plus, your involvement in the school community shows your child that you are committed to his or her education – both inside and outside the classroom.

Learn what your child needs for proper support.

We never want to think that our child may be struggling, either academically or socially. But early intervention is the single most important factor in keeping small issues from becoming big problems. Regularly review your child’s homework and report cards for signs of any difficulties. Check in with your child’s teacher throughout the academic year to check on social skills development and behavior. If you have any concerns, speak with your child’s teacher. He or she will be able to help you identify useful resources, contact professional support, or maybe alleviate some fears.

Develop ways to encourage and support learning at home.

Learning doesn’t stop when the last bell rings. Children have a natural curiosity that is nurtured at school and continues when they are at home. To encourage their desire to learn more outside of school, make education part of your home life. If your child encounters an unknown word, look it up together in the dictionary and then use it properly throughout the day. Review homework together and make it a habit to work through any errors with your child so that they understand how to arrive at the correct answer. And even something as simple as reading together every day can increase your child’s reading comprehension by an entire grade level.
