School Programs

Peer Mentoring Program

Our peer mentoring module takes place over two modules in Grade 10 and Grade 11 and ensures our students learn, develop, and practice skills for mentoring and ‘buddying’ younger ones. In Grade 10, students are trained in peer mentoring through the ASDAN Peer Mentoring Course, and in Grade 11, students are supported through community service to implement and practice peer mentoring. It is in Grade 11, where students have the opportunity to apply aspects of their peer mentoring and earn up to 10 hours of community service in school.

The ASDAN Peer Mentoring Short Course accredits peer mentoring activities, providing recognition for those who are learning, developing, practicing and passing on their skills for mentoring and 'buddying' younger ones.

Internal Community Service Program

Our internal community service program is designed as a once-a-week session for students providing guidance and mentorship introducing students to the importance of volunteering as well as providing the development of key skills such as planning, collaborating, reflecting, and peer mentorship. Students are also guided in these sessions to research, design, and carry out their High School Capstone projects which are linked to social responsibility addressing needs of either school, local, or wider community. This ensures students earn a minimum of 60 hours of volunteering service.
