In order to have a positive impact on your community, it is important to embrace the spirit of compassion and generosity. In the fast-paced world of today, giving your time to those less privileged is in itself a valuable contribution.

As one of the best American schools in Sharjah, The American School of Creative Science - Maliha Road aims to inculcate this spirit of charity in our students from an early age. ASCS believes in volunteering because when you help others it fosters a sense of community and satisfaction. The ripple-effect of happiness spreads far and wide and impacts not just the individual, but the community as a whole.

To this end, we require students to complete 40 hours of community service through one of our School Volunteering Program. The service hours are flexible and can be completed inside and outside the school. Each student has a choice to select the type of community service that he or she would like to engage in. Students at ASCS have been involved in organizing and running school events such as sports day, working booths at book fairs, and organizing events that help support children with special needs.

At ASCS, students have completed community service hours in the following places or organizations:

• ASCS events such a National Day and Sports Day.
• Supporting ASCS staff during day to day duties and/or special activities, such as book distribution.
• Support during BEAM events i.e. Phase 5 Opening, Phase 5 parent lounge opening.
• Providing free tutoring to younger students.
• Sharjah Government’s Directorate of Islamic Affairs.
• Children’s events at American University of Dubai (AUD).
• Various summer/holiday camps.
• The Mawada Project tutoring & summer reading programs.
• Planting a smile team via ASCS.
• Red Crescent UAE.
• Senior Citizens Home Sharjah.
• Reading support to younger students.
• Food distribution during Ramadan projects.
• Friends of Diabetes.
• Sharjah International Book Fair.

Our standing as one of the best American schools in Sharjah, leads us to commit to giving back to the community. Our Student Volunteer Program is key to developing a culture of excellence. Volunteering is essential to developing out student’s characters in the best way, by helping others for the sake of the community and of the wider world.
